CARNOUSTIE LEVEL CROSSING RENEWAL

CARNOUSTIE LEVEL CROSSING RENEWAL
Network Rail is currently undertaking a renewal of the signalling system and level crossing in Carnoustie. This work is required to keep the signalling equipment and level crossing in good condition, benefit train service performance and improve safety at the level crossing.

Work will include replacing the existing two long level crossing barriers with four barriers, enhancement of signalling equipment, and complete renewal of the level crossing surface.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the work to renew the level crossing surface, the crossing will be closed for two extended periods of time in the coming months and road diversions will be in place.

The crossing will be closed to traffic from the evening of Saturday 9 February until the morning of Monday 18 February, and again from the evening of Saturday 9 March until the morning of Monday 18 March.

The equipment Network Rail uses means some disturbance is unavoidable for those residents close to the level crossing, but it will make every effort to minimise the impact of this work on the local community.

COMMUNITY DROP-IN

To share further information and to answer any questions about the work, Network Rail will be hosting a community drop-in event. This will take place from:

4.30 – 7.30pm
Wednesday 23rd January
Station Hotel, Carnoustie

KEY WORK DATES AND TIMES
Work will be ongoing at the level crossing from 9th February 2019 until the end of March 2019.

Given the scale of the project, there will be periods when work will be day and night shift. During the weekend line closures, it will be 24-hour continuous working to deliver this very challenging programme. The table below highlights some of the key work dates, impacts and activities.

To enable a wider programme of track enhancements along the line between Dundee and Aberdeen, and for these works to be delivered safely and efficiently, no trains will operate between Dundee and Aberdeen on weekends when the work is taking place. Further information about disruption to train services is available on the ScotRail website.
