Angus Residents £2,600 Worse Off Due To Brexit

Angus Residents £2,600 Worse Off Due To Brexit

COST TO SCOTLAND ALREADY AT £3.9BN

Graeme has called on the Prime Minister to apologise during his flying visit to Scotland, after a new report found that Brexit has already left people in Angus over £302 million worse off.

The new analysis from experts at Warwick University found that, nationally, Scotland is now £3.9 billion poorer as a result of Brexit. It found that Scotland has already lost £736 per head of population – with the figure much worse for Angus at £2,603.41 per head.

Separately, Scottish Government analysis has revealed that ending the transition period in 2020 could cut £3 billion from the Scottish economy in just two years – over and above the impact of coronavirus pandemic.

Commenting, Graeme said:

Here we have yet more clear information that Brexit will cause huge damage to the Scottish economy and to the local economy here in Angus.

The people of Angus voted neither to leave the EU nor for a Tory government, and yet are already over £2,600 worse off per head thanks to Boris Johnson’s pursuit of a disastrous Brexit.

In the middle of an unprecedented global crisis, Tory Brexiteers intend to continue dragging Scotland down this course against our will.

With Westminster so intent on sacrificing our economy and people’s livelihoods, the case for protecting our interests as an independent country has never been clearer.
