Angus South Constituency MSP Graeme Dey has welcomed confirmation from Angus Council that steps are being taken to reduce the risk of flooding on the A92 between Arbroath and Dundee.
Angus Council has outlined to Mr Dey that BEAR Scotland has increased drainage cleaning operations to reduce the issue of vegetation growing from the gully units and clearing the drainage system. BEAR Scotland has reported that it has undertaken some 25 nightshifts of working to deal with the drainage from Claypotts to Elliot Roundabout.
Furthermore, it has been confirmed that Claymore’s management consultant has raised the matter of potential drainage issues with the Claymore board which Angus Council understands is currently considering options to improve the drainage system at the location which suffered recent flooding.
Mr Dey commented:
“This is welcome news from Angus Council. The A92 is an important road for many of my constituents and it is vital that any measures that can be implements to reduce possible flooding are taken.
“I am pleased that action had followed I and others raising this issue, and in particular the negative impact overgrown drains was having on allowing surface water to clear.”
