Motions for Week Beginning 18th September

Graeme is delighted to have this week lodged motions in Parliament congratulating various people and organisations across Angus South constituency for some quite fantastic achievements…

 

Motion S5M-07721: Angus South Companies Success at the Scottish Gin Awards

That the Parliament congratulates Arbikie and the Gin Bothy on their success at the Scottish Gin Awards; applauds Arbikie on being named the Scottish Gin Distillery of the Year; notes that it was also presented with a bronze medal for its Cask Aged Kirsty’s Gin; welcomes the Gin Bothy being presented with a bronze medal for its Gin Bothy-Amaretto product, and wishes Arbikie and the Gin Bothy continued success.

 

Motion S5M-07722: Marie McIntosh, Scotland’s Female Stylist of the Year

That the Parliament congratulates Marie McIntosh, who works at Ramminger’s Dream Hair salon in Arbroath, on being named Scotland’s female stylist of the year for the second successive year at the Scottish Hair and Beauty awards, and wishes Marie continued success.

 

Motion S5M-07749: Carnoustie’s Citizens of the Year

That the Parliament congratulates the winners of Carnoustie Citizen and Junior Citizen of the Year awards, Richard Nicoll and Ethan Torrie; understands that Richard, who recently returned from the Special Olympics in Sheffield with well-deserved gold, silver and bronze medals, was named citizen of the year in recognition of his work in the community; acknowledges that this includes helping out with fundraising and visiting older people at the Kinloch Centre; notes that the junior citizen of the year, Ethan, volunteers for the Food is Free project, at which he works hard in all weathers, shovelling manure and compost, and doing any other jobs that need done, showing kindness to all, and appreciates the example set, and sacrifices made, by people such as Richard and Ethan, who work hard in their communities for the benefit of others.

 

Motion S5M-07803: Arbroath Relay for Life, Cancer Research UK

That the Parliament congratulates the Cancer Research UK Arbroath Relay for Life group on bringing its 2017 fundraising total to almost £60,000 following its recent hugely successful event; commends the amazing work of the Arbroath group, which has raised around £900,000 for the charity over the last 11 years; understands that further money is set to be raised in the coming months, which will take the group closer to reaching the £1 million fundraising goal set by its chair, Ian Angus, and wishes Arbroath Relay for Life the best of luck in achieving this remarkable milestone.

 

Motion S5M-07813: DH Robertson Butchers of Arbroath

That the Parliament congratulates DH Robertson Butchers of Arbroath on its recent success at the Scottish Craft Butcher Awards 2017; notes that the Angus South constituency butchers won a gold award for its speciality beef bourguignon pie, as well as picking up two silver awards for its traditional steak pie and speciality beef and black bean chilli pie, and applauds the success of local businesses such as DH Robertson Butchers as they continue to support Scotland’s thriving food and drink industry.
