Motions for Week Beginning 23rd January
Graeme was delighted to lodge the following motions in Parliament this week…

 

 

Motion S5M-03734: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party, Date Lodged: 27/01/2017

That the Parliament congratulates everyone who performed in and helped to organise the That’s Life concert in Arbroath in November 2016, which raised £4,000; notes that Breast Friends, Motor Neurone Disease (Ninewells), Cancer Research UK and Heart Foundation (Scotland) were each presented with £750 each and that Arbroath Boxing Club and Arbroath United Cricket Club were both given £500; acknowledges that, since the That’s Life Rat Pack swing era concerts started, over £35,000 has been raised for charity, and welcomes the hard work of volunteers, such as those involved in these concerts, in their fundraising.

 
 
 
Motion S5M-03707: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party, Date Lodged: 26/01/2017
 
That the Parliament notes that 26 January 2017 marked Young Carers Awareness Day; recognises the challenges that Scotland’s 29,000 young carers face on a daily basis as they balance caring for a loved one with their education, and appreciates what it sees as the vital work that is carried out by organisations such as the Angus Young Carers as they provide support, advice and information for these young people.
 
 
 
Motion S5M-03684: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party, Date Lodged: 26/01/2017

That the Parliament congratulates Timmergreens Primary School on receiving £8,543 from the Awards for All Scotland programme; understands that the Arbroath-based school will use the funding to purchase new playground equipment, and appreciates the work of Awards for All Scotland as it continues to support projects that help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need.

 
 
 
Motion S5M-03580: Graeme Dey, Angus South, Scottish National Party, Date Lodged: 23/01/2017

That the Parliament congratulates Gin Bothy on winning the Best Product award in the drinks category at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show; notes that the company, which is based in the Angus Glens, produces a variety of flavours of infused gins, and acknowledges that the event hosted 130 companies showcasing the excellent speciality food and drink produced in Scotland.
