Motion S5M-07874: Angus South Winners of the Beautiful Angus Pride in Place Awards

That the Parliament congratulates the Angus South-based winners of the Beautiful Angus Pride in Place awards; welcomes the gold awards won by Angus Council tenants, Rose Thomson, John Stephen and Paul Cameron; congratulates Monikie Primary School on winning the schools category and receiving the Provost’s Quaich; notes that The Corn Exchange in Arbroath was declared the winner in the licensed category and presented with the Jim Miller Sustainable Trophy; applauds Arbirlot on being awarded the Village prize and Colourful Carnoustie on winning the Flower and Food award; notes that Keptie Friends won the Environment prize and was named the overall winner of the Pride in Place Community award, and welcomes the contribution of all these groups and individuals to making Angus South a beautiful place in which to live.

Motion S5M-07873: Kirriemuir Splash 2017

That the Parliament congratulates the organisers and participants of 2017’s Kirriemuir Splash; understands that this year’s event has so far raised £3,400; notes that, since the fundraiser started 27 years ago, £200,000 has been raised for charity; believes that participants, in teams, tried to complete as many lengths as they could of the Webster’s Sports Centre pool; understands that the 2017 beneficiaries are Lippen Care, Angus Food Bank, Angus Cat Rescue, Cancer Research, Dr Grahams Homes, Operacion San Andres and the multi-cultural Angus Community Group, which supports Syrian families in the area, and welcomes the efforts of all those involved to raise this funding for good causes.
