Motions for Week Beginning 28th August 2017

Motions for Week Beginning 28th August 2017

Graeme was delighted to lodge the following motions in Parliament this week…

Motion S5M-07309: EU Leader Funding

That the Parliament acknowledges the positive impact that it considers EU Leader funding has on Angus and other parts of Scotland; congratulates the Eassie, Nevay & Kirkinch Community Association, which has been awarded a grant to fund upgrades that will help the hall to operate as a resilience centre in the case of an emergency; welcomes the funds awarded to The Food Life, which is a voluntary group with long-term initiatives to ultimately promote a healthy lifestyle to the general public using innovative approaches; applauds Peel Farm in Lintrathen for securing funds to develop its site by creating a number of luxury glamping pods in a secluded area of farmland; commends the Brechin community cinema project for attaining funds to purchase its own cinema equipment, and encourages community groups throughout Scotland to apply for grants, which can have a transformative effect on projects that benefit local communities.

Motion S5M-07360: 53rd Angus (1st Newbigging) Scout Group

That the Parliament welcomes the award of £9,400 by Awards for All Scotland funding to the 53rd Angus (1st Newbigging) Scout Group; understands that the Monikie-based group will use the funding to upgrade existing facilities and to purchase a box trailer for transporting outdoor equipment, allowing the young members, who are aged from 6 to 14, to experience adventures outside the local community; wishes the group every success in the future, and supports Awards for All Scotland grants, which provide valuable funding for community groups and projects across the country.
