Motions for Week Beginning 3rd April 2017

Motions for Week Beginning 3rd April 2017

Graeme was delighted to lodge the following motions in Parliament this week…

Motion S5M-05089: Carnoustie Haven Volunteers Present £26,000 to Community Causes

That the Parliament congratulates the Carnoustie Haven charity shop on raising £26,000 for good causes in the local community; acknowledges that this is the latest annual presentation of funds by the shop over the last few years, which now stands at an impressive £67,000, and highlights the generosity of the people of Carnoustie who donated the goods sold, those who bought the items and especially the hard work of all the volunteers involved.

Motion S5M-05088: Arbroath Academy Students Rise to the Rock Challenge

That the Parliament congratulates the pupils from Arbroath Academy who rocked the Caird Hall in Dundee on 30 March 2017 and scooped a number of awards for their incredible performance; notes that the accolades won included the award for achievement in drug awareness and awards for excellence for drama, choreography, concept, entertainment, lighting, stage crew and video performance; understands that the purpose of the Rock Challenge event, supported by Angus Council and Police Scotland, is to relay an anti-drug and crime prevention message via the performing arts, and welcomes performing arts competitions such as this, which not only entertain its audiences, but help teach students a multitude of new skills.
