Graeme has lodged the below-listed motions in Parliament over the last week, congratulating as ever, various people and organisations across Angus South constituency for some quite fantastic achievements.
Motion S5M-10293: Airedale Memorial Funding
That the Parliament congratulates the Airedale Terrier Club of Scotland on receiving an award of £18,000 from the Scottish Landfill Communities to help erect a monument to honour the Airedales that served in the First World War; notes that thousands of Airedale Terriers were used during the war to locate injured soldiers on the battlefield, to carry out sentry work and to take messages and first aid supplies through the trenches, and believes that it is fitting that a memorial to the lives of these dogs should be commemorated in the area where it all began, on the beach of East Haven in Angus, which, along with Carnoustie and Barry beaches, is where the dogs were initially trained.
Motion S5M-10332: Brittle Bone Society Marks 50th Anniversary
That the Parliament congratulates the Brittle Bone Society, which is the sole UK charity supporting people with the rare disease, osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), on its 50th anniversary; understands that Margaret Grant MBE of Dundee set up the Brittle Bone Society in 1968 when the charity was arguably the first in the world to support people with OI; notes that, to mark its 50th anniversary, the charity plans to celebrate its Dundee heritage and expert knowledge within the OI community by welcoming keynote healthcare professionals to the city to take part in an International Scientific Symposium, as well as host a European Patient meeting later in 2018, and wishes continued success to the Brittle Bone Society’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Elaine Healey and Patricia Osborne, in furthering the work of the charity.
