GRAEME CONGRATULATES ANGUS SOUTH RECIPIENTS
8 January 2021
Graeme has congratulated local projects set to benefit from fast-tracked funding to help tackle climate change and deliver Scotland’s green recovery from the pandemic.
A total of 279 projects across Scotland will be funded through the Community Climate Asset Fund – five within the Angus South constituency.
Dementia support hub Kirrie Connections as well as Eassie, Nevay & Kirkinch Community Association will receive £8,650.50 and £4,911.00 respectively for community building energy efficiency improvements.
Both the community group Sustainable Kirriemuir (£7,492.00) and Inverbrothock Primary School (£1,353.76) will get funding for food growing equipment.
Murroes Primary will be provided with £7,221.74 for a polytunnel, greenhouse, shed, tools and composting and watering equipment to help the local community reduce carbon emissions by growing their own produce.
Projects elsewhere in Scotland will help to deliver electric bikes, among other initiatives.
Welcoming the news, Graeme said:
“I am delighted that primary schools and community projects across Angus South are receiving a total of £29,629 in grants through the Scottish Government’s Community Climate Asset Fund.
“This will support a range of fantastic initiatives to cut carbon emissions through more energy efficient buildings and the production of food locally in community gardens.
“I would like to say a huge congratulations to the schools and community groups in my constituency whose applications for this funding have been successful, and look forward to seeing their projects develop.
“As well as playing a vital role in maintaining our resilience at this incredibly difficult time, local communities and community organisations will be critical to our green recovery – and this fast-tracked funding will provide long-lasting benefits.”
The Community Climate Asset Fund is administered by Keep Scotland Beautiful as part of the Climate Challenge Fund initiative. Details are available on the Keep Scotland Beautiful website, together with a full list of successful recipients. The projects will be completed by the end of March.
Chief Executive Officer of Keep Scotland Beautiful, Barry Fisher, said:
“We congratulate all the community-based organisations across Scotland awarded Community Climate Asset Fund grants.
“Keep Scotland Beautiful are committed to making Scotland clean, green and sustainable, and through the Community Climate Asset Fund, we are delighted to support communities to tackle climate change and contribute to a green and just recovery from COVID-19.”
