SNP Demands Action This Energy Savers Week
The SNP has issued a fresh challenge to the UK Labour government to keep their promises for once and cut energy bills for Scottish families.
The call comes during Energy Savers Week 2025.
The initiative, designed to help people reduce energy use and cut costs, was started by the Energy Saving Trust and comes as the price of energy is once again on the rise in the UK.
On 1st January 2025, Ofgem’s energy price cap rose to £1,738 and is expected to go up again in April.
This is despite Labour promising to reduce energy bills by £300 during last year’s election, and follows Labour’s cut to vital support like the Winter Fuel Payment and rising inflation.
Increase in energy bills leaves almost 90% of households just as worried about paying them as last year https://t.co/yx3qt4xY5d

Energy Savers Week is pertinent as ever at this time of year, but especially so in the context of the Labour UK Government’s broken promises to bring costs down.
GRAEME
The price of energy through the winter will be taking its toll on the finances of so many households.
Having betrayed pensioners with the removal of Winter Fuel Payments, Labour must at the very least act to cut costs.
The SNP Scottish Government is doing all it can in providing a universal Winter Heating Payment for pensioners from next year and exploring the possibility of a social energy tariff – but once again we are limited by a failing Westminster that should devolve energy powers to Holyrood.
