Labour Paying the Price for More Austerity
The SNP has hailed a double by-election victory in Lochee and Strathmartine, increasing the size of the council group in Dundee and achieving what Labour touted as a āDundee Doubleā, saying āthe Labour Party are already paying the price for austerity measures like the Winter Fuel Payment cutā.
This comes as the Labour Party progresses its programme of austerity, with Labour MPs voting to take away the Winter Fuel Payment from 800,000 Scottish pensioners and to keep the two-child benefit cap.
Meanwhile, the Labour UK Government considers axing tens of millions of pounds of Levelling Up investment in cities like Dundee.
The two newly-elected SNP Councillors, Lee Mills and Jimmy Black, defeated opposition candidates in a surprise upset last night, with senior Labour Party sources already laying blame at the door of Number 10.
