Only SNP Protecting Scotland’s Values
The Labour party has admitted they have no plans to ever end the two-child benefit cap – despite the SNP confirming they will scrap the cruel Westminster policy in Scotland.
As reported in The Herald, a source in Keir Starmer’s Labour party said: “If they still think we’re going to scrap the cap then they’re listening to the wrong people.”
The Labour source added, “We’re simply not going to find a way to do that.”
Speaking to a journalist from The Guardian newspaper, the unnamed source also explained the heartless reasoning for maintaining the cap that currently keeps 350,000 kids in poverty across the UK.
They said, “The cap is popular with key voters who see it as a matter of fairness.”
Under John Swinney’s leadership, the SNP announced it would end the two-child benefit cap imposed by Westminster – a move that will lift 15,000 kids in Scotland out of poverty.
The SNP has said the comment lays bare Labour’s true priorities – their own electoral success, rather than Scotland’s poorest children.
What is the point of a Labour Party that imposes austerity cuts on the most vulnerable?

In the SNP, we’re making different choices – lifting children out of poverty with our Scottish Child Payment, ending the two-child cap and standing up for Scotland. pic.twitter.com/lsBBflBZ4d
These very revealing comments from within Labour lay bare their priorities under Starmer and Sarwar.
GRAEME
Labour care more about courting right wing votes than about lifting children out of poverty.
It is a truly damning indictment of a party that has lost touch entirely with what they are meant to stand for.
A Labour government presiding over an increase in child poverty is unconscionable – the SNP is acting in Scotland to bring down poverty despite the one hand continually tied behind our back.
John Swinney announced last year that the Scottish Government would end the two-child cap for families in Scotland and lift 15,000 children out of poverty in the process.
With the full powers of independence, we could go even further.
