MSPs Must Explain Giving Green Light to Cuts
Opposition MSPs have voted against measures to maintain teacher numbers in the Scottish Parliament.
The SNP have said this proves they are the only party willing to protect teacher numbers.
The Scottish Government amendment called on COSLA to accept a £145.5 million funding boost from the Scottish Government to maintain numbers. By rejecting this, the opposition parties have given their tacit endorsement to cuts.
This has prompting calls for opposition MSPs to explain why they have opened the door to cuts to teacher numbers in Angus and across Scotland.
Graeme and SNP colleagues will continue to call on councils to accept the funding available to ensure teacher numbers are maintained, and for those of other parties to back that call.

Opposition parties at Holyrood have voted to give a green light to potential cuts to teacher numbers here in Angus and across Scotland.
GRAEME
They were set a very simple challenge – call for councils to accept the money on offer to them and maintain teacher numbers.
This is not a political game, this is our children’s education – it is for those MSPs to explain why they opted to open the door to cuts.
It’s critical that teacher numbers are maintained in Angus and elsewhere, and the SNP Scottish Government will continue to do all it can to that end.
