About Graeme

Graeme Dey is the SNP MSP for Angus South Constituency. He was born and raised in Aberdeen, attending Greenfern Infants school followed by Springhill and Broomhill primaries and Harlaw Academy.

He left the Granite City for Dundee in 1985 to pursue his career in journalism, moving to Angus five years later and is now married with two grown up children.

Having worked for The Courier newspaper for 26 years, Graeme was elected to serve as the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Angus South Constituency in 2011 and 2016.

In the 2021 Holyrood election Graeme was re-elected with the highest vote for the SNP in Angus South ever, and a greatly increased majority.

In March 2023, Graeme was chosen by First Minister Humza Yousaf to be Minister for Higher and Further Education; and Minister for Veterans.

He has previously worked in Government as Minister for Transport, and Minister for Parliamentary Business under Nicola Sturgeon.

His passions outside of politics and his family are golf and football. He likes nothing more than upping his step count by pounding the golf links of Carnoustie. And his clothing choices often reflect his twin loves of Aberdeen FC and Manchester United FC.
