Reports of delays to postal votes being delivered across the UK.
Royal Mail has provided confirmation nationally that there is a second batch of postal vote deliveries due today (Friday) and Saturday. Further, Royal Mail will give best endeavours to prioritise returned postal votes to get them to Returning Officers.Ā There will be a full national sweep on polling day, but we do need to encourage an immediate return of postal votes to minimise impact on the count.
Angus Council have seen the return of some 17,000 postal votes already and they are arriving at the rate of about 6,000 a day which is in line with expectations, given that postal votes are becoming increasingly popular.
Did you apply for a postal vote?
If you applied for one and havenāt received it yet, it should be delivered by this weekend.
Any resident who has applied for a postal vote for the Angus & Perthshire Glens Constituency or Arbroath & Broughty Ferry Constituency who still hasnāt received a pack by Monday 1 July 2024 should contact elections@angus.gov.uk
If you need a postal voteURGENTLYbecause you are going away today or tomorrow, will not be home in time to return your vote, and still havenāt received your voting pack today (28 June), please email elections@angus.gov.uk and Angus Council will be in touch to arrange for you to collect one from their Forfar office.
Please remember to mail your vote as early as possible. Popping it into a postbox is the simplest way to submit it.
Postal votes may also be returned by hand to a polling station or to the Returning Officer at Angus House, Orchardbank, Forfar but the rules on who can hand in postal votes in the UK Parliamentary elections have changed. You MUST now complete a form when you hand it in. If you leave a postal vote without completing the postal vote return form, it will be rejected.
The easiest way to guarantee your postal vote is counted is to pop it into the post using the pre-paid envelope as soon as possible.
