Graeme has visited the new Monifieth Learning Campus site, along with local Councillors Beth Whiteside and Lloyd Melville, and the Council’s Convener of Family, Education and Justice, Lynne Devine.
The new facility, with a budget of £66.5 million, is the largest ever investment in the area, funded jointly by Angus Council and the Scottish Government. According to Council Budget documents released in late February, the project accounts for 44% of the Council’s budgeted capital spend in the coming years.
It will meet Passivhaus standard, will feature an array of PV panels and incorporate air-source heat pumps into the design, boosting the project’s climate credentials. Alongside a larger capacity, the building will also contain a purpose-built ASN department, an early learning centre, and a swimming pool.
Construction commenced in summer 2023, and the school is due to open to pupils in the second half of 2025.
