The SNP Scottish Government has protected residents of Angus from spiralling water bills thanks to public ownership of Scottish Water, Graeme has said.
It follows a major review into England and Wales’ troubled privatised water industry, which states that bills will soar by 30% over the next five years.
Figures show the average water bill in England and Wales is ÂŁ603 this year, almost 20% higher than the ÂŁ490 a year average in SNP-run Scotland.
Scottish Water is safe in public hands thanks to relentless Scottish campaigning against privatisation by the Thatcher and Major governments of the 1980s and 90s.
Thanks to the SNP Scottish Government, Scots pay significantly lower water bills than those south of the border – if the Labour UK Government want to sort out the mess down south, then they should follow Scotland’s example and bring water back into public ownership.

While England’s water companies are run for profit, Scotland’s are run for public benefit and the benefit of that is measured in the pockets of hard-working Scots who pay far less for water.
Labour minister’s falsely claim that England’s water is in a better state than Scotland’s, but we know the truth – 87% of Scotland’s water environment is assessed by SEPA as having a high or good classification – far better than in England.
The comparative success of Scottish Water just goes to show that when we have power here in Scotland, we make better decisions – and we could go so much further with the full powers of independence.
