This timetable covers the period from 30 September 2019 to 31 December 2019.
Support to Claim
Angus Council’s ‘Support to Claim’ service will help residents make a UC claim; this includes setting up a personal email address if necessary; ensuring claimants are aware how to keep their log-in credentials safe and we will also supports new UC claimants to complete the identity verification process. The support also extends to supporting UC claimants to accessing their UC account; examples include navigating their online UC Journal and helping make journal entries or enquiries and uploading documents onto their UC Journal.
In cases where a resident has no/or extremely low IT skills and requires more intensive digital support to carry out other online activities, then Angus Council will refer on to other opportunities, such as the Angus Digital Skills Academy or ANGUSalive digital training.
In cases where the resident does not have the digital capability and cannot and may never be able to self-serve on-line then these residents would be directed to the UC Helpline who will provide/arrange appropriate support for the resident to make their UC claim and on-going administration of their claim.
How to access Support to Claim
The attached timetable shows where and when this support will be provided across Angus. Please note these are drop-in sessions (unless otherwise stated) and as such are not pre-bookable; be aware that you may have to wait for a short period if the worker is attending to someone else. Details of the information sessions are also available here.
In the event that you are is unable to call into any of the drop-in sessions Angus Council can, in limited circumstances facilitate either a home visit or an appointment at a local ACCESS office, examples of such visits would be where a resident has a disability. Any such requests should be made direct to the Welfare Rights Service through the normal channels.
In the event where a claimant has other Universal Credit issue/s, such as a sanction dispute or a query over a Limited Capability for Work decision or an overpayment, then the claimant can be directed to either the Angus Council Welfare Rights Service or Angus CAB.
