SNP Supporting People Through Cost Crisis
New figures show that 4,325 Scottish Welfare Fund payments have been made to support people in Angus between July 2022 and June 2023.
The Scottish Welfare Fund, consisting of Community Care Grants and Crisis Grants, is a national scheme funded by the Scottish Government and administered by local authorities which provides support to those most in need.
Latest figures have shown that, across Angus, 3,450 Crisis Grants have been awarded in addition to 875 Community Care Grants.
Since the SNP introduced the Scottish Welfare Fund in 2013, £410 million has been awarded to support 519,890 individual households.
It is clear that the Scottish Welfare Fund is a lifeline resource for a great many people here in Angus as across the country.

While I of course welcome the vital Scottish Government support, the level of need for help of this sort highlights the ongoing impact of a Tory cost-of-living crisis on the back of a decade of Tory austerity.
It is a truly damning indictment of Westminster failure, and makes it all the more shocking that we now have a Labour party unwilling to reverse such damaging policies.
With the full powers of independence, Scotland could chart a better path to a fairer society instead of having to forever mitigate the harm caused by successive UK governments – but the SNP will continue doing exactly that for as long as it must.
