At the 2011 Scottish Parliament election, Graeme was elected as MSP for Angus South. He subsequently opened his Arbroath constituency office on the high street and settled into his new parliamentary office in Holyrood.

He began his time as MSP getting to know his constituency by visiting the Angus Glens, attending the Angus Show and meeting with Angus Carers Centre. In parliament he supported breast cancers ‘Wear it Pink’ for the first time, the See Me campaign and attended a veteran’s event.
